Sentiance is a data science and behavioral change company turning IoT sensor data into rich insights about people’s behavior and real-time context. These insights enable companies to understand how customers go through their everyday lives, discover and anticipate the moments that matter most, and adapt their engagement to real-world behavior and real-time context. The Sentiance motion intelligence platform collects sensor data from smartphones and IoT devices to interpret situational context in real-time and understand user activities and their location. The Business Development Associate, Americas reports to the General Manager, Americas at Sentiance. The ideal candidate is ambitious, energetic and brings business acumen and a technical background to help Sentiance expand its client roster in the U.S. and Latin American markets.
Your role will be to seek new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with prospective clients.
Location: Flexible within the United States, preferably New York City. Applicants based in Toronto are also welcome to apply.
To be successful in this role, you must have previous experience developing leads using various channels including marketing campaigns, social media engagement, conferences and events. You will use your communication skills to cultivate strong relationships with prospective clients, from first contact until the deal is closed with support from the General Manager, Americas. Typical responsibilities for the Business Development Associate, Americas:
Research organizations to identify new leads and potential new markets
Identify key stakeholders at these organizations who are responsible for making buying decisions
Conduct research on the competition and clearly articulate our value proposition and advantage over these companies
Promote the company’s products and solutions addressing or predicting the prospective clients’ business objectives
Prepare compelling presentations and sales materials
Identify client needs and customize appropriate products and solutions that meet prospective clients’ needs
Stay up-to-date with new products/solutions and new pricing/payment plans
Build trusting relationships with prospective clients
Prepare sales contracts adhering to company guidelines and templates
Provide after-sales support to internal delivery and technical teams as needed
Keep detailed and timely records of all business development activities, prospect interactions and details of each deal in the company’s CRM system
Attend conferences and industry events as necessary
Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market
Report sales results to the General Manager, Americas and the CEO on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
Act as the liaison between our Marketing and Sales teams and contribute to the company’s marketing initiatives

Proven working experience (preferably 2-3 years) in a B:B sales environment
Strong interest and experience in various aspects of mobile technology, data science, data engineering, cloud computing and IoT
Awareness of the opportunities of new and emerging technologies and services
Ability to articulate strategic recommendations based on prospective client challenges
Experience working with technical / development teams (client and/or internal)
In-depth knowledge of the industry and its current events
Results oriented; ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to handle many different personalities both internally and externally
Independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Work effectively and proactively within a team setting
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred but not a requirement
